Uploading to Wikimedia Commons

Steps to follow to upload pictures on Commons:

You need to create an account on Commons (not here!);
Use the special upload wizard to upload your pictures;
- Give a significative name to your pictures;
- Describe the picture. Ex: Name of the place, city, province, and all relevant informations;
- Insert the number of the database of Canada's Historic Places repository. If the place has more than one number, insert them all by placing a verical line between them: " | ";
Once uploaded, your pictures will be in the category where judges will see them to judge. The wizard may upload up to 50 pictures at once.

Important: A good hint to facilitate uploading is to go on one of the lists of places and click on the icon at the enf of each line; the form of the wizard on Commons will already be filed with all relevant informations: Name of the place, geographical coordinates, number in the database, etc.

If you don't know the number for a monument, see the lists in the right column on the page Participate or use the search tool of the governmental database: historicplaces.ca.
If your photo is a monument of another country, please use the right form to be eligible in this country.
