Away for 4 years
editHI, I was one a couple of the first Skype organizing sessions back in 2010 or 2011 and due to unforseen circumstances I was off the Internet for the last 4 years. Thus I lost contact with the orginizers and this group. I am glad it has progressed so far. I am at a quandry though about images and articles and what contributions are to be made. I ventured trough the to do lists and a few other pages but can't seem to find an Upload link? Where are the Canadian photos or do all things revert to regular Wikimedia. Same goes for Canadian articles? Do I make a link or duplicate them here. Some were unceremoniously deleted from Wikipedia as they were deemed non notable by Americans who know nothing of some Canadian people or when I logged in under a different name. Is Wiki Canada just for promoting Pedia and Media to Canadians? That's great in itself as I was thinking of organizing some London meetings and workshops myself. - Almost a year later. Is anyone here? What 2016 activities are going on? Are we still active? WayneRay (talk) 12:53, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
- It should be noted that the 'unforseen circumstances' in question involved WayneRay being jailed for child pornography offences. [1] And yes, it is the same person - hence the blocks from EnWP, Commons etc. [2] 86.164.202.0 19:06, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

editEclecticology
editThere is no online activity by Eclecticology since May 2016. Esp. the community at Wikilivres is much concerned about him. Do you have any information or suggestion? K67y (talk) 13:35, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Wiki Loves Monuments 2016
editAre we not participating again in 2016 in Wiki Loves Monuments? Is it too late to get started? Very sad to see this not happen for the 2nd year in a row. Our last contest was in 2014. Oaktree b (talk) 03:26, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Wikilivres
editSee wikilivres:Community portal Since Ray's passing, community members there have been in discussion with the future of this cousin site to the WMF projects. Between User:Yann, myself, and I hope members of Wikimedia Canada, I would like to see the site expand as a companion to WMF wikis. If anyone is interested in talking to that community, please post to my talk here. Thanks. Koavf (talk) 20:31, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
- I am willing to provide some support. Doc James (talk) 15:28, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Unless there’s content only shown to registered users, that page is empty. Considering the project is private, with no apparent means for new members to sign up, in what way might those of us who are not already members be expected to contribute?—Odysseus1479 (talk) 01:56, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, the right link for the Discussion about the future of wikilivres is wikilivres:Wikilivres:Community_Portal/en#When_do_we_split.3F. There are administrative and technical problems to solve, including updating or reinstalling the server, and making new registrations possible in the normal way. Any help is appreciated. Adoption
editSeeking a next step The community at Wikilivres is still sorting out what we need to do. Simply put, I don't think any of us knows what is next. One thing that would be nice is if there were some way to ensure continuity in the future. One strength of some kind of community stewardship is that we don't have to rely on one person to own and manage the resource. I'll be happy to help however I can but I'm an American. Music in Canada national Wikipedia campaign
editHi, We're a group of music librarians and we're organising a national campaign focused on expanding and strengthening content related to music in Canada to be timed with the 150th anniversary of confederation in 2017. It will most likely be editing workshops in the late spring with a coordinated distributed edit-a-thon in October 2017. So far we have interest from 36 organisations and individuals and it's looking like we'll have about 15 geographic nodes from Cape Breton to British Columbia. I'm working on formalising the participant list and gathering wikipedia usernames, etc. I would love to hear from this community! We're working on a project grant and support and input would also be very much appreciated. See the draft here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Music_in_Canada_@_150:_A_Wikipedia_and_Wikidata_Project
Extension:FormatNum
editHello, I would like to add Extension:FormatNum to our Wiki's extensions, in order to manage FORMATNUM in both French and English on this Wiki. I've open a ticket on Phabricator, and as suggested, it's better to have a consensus before such change. So please, if you have a moment, I would like to have your opinions. Best regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 19:56, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- Je pense que ça serait utile de l'activer sur ce wiki. Merci, Amqui (talk) 21:01, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- Super utile pour une édition grammaticalement et numériquement correcte en FR! --Thekidpossum (talk) 21:41, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
